For nearly four decades, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) has worked to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. As the largest private funder of suicide prevention research in the United States and globally, AFSP advances education, advocacy, and support programs grounded in one powerful idea: community and connection matter.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, supporters from across the country are coming together for A Million in May, AFSP’s month-long campaign to raise $1 million for suicide prevention. By activating their own networks and amplifying A Million in May, AFSP’s Lifesaver Ambassadors are helping to ensure that no one is alone in navigating a suicide loss or mental health struggle.

Lifesaver Ambassadors are a vibrant group of creators who are also passionate about mental health. They are an essential part of AFSP’s community, using their platforms to raise awareness about mental health, share prevention messaging, and encourage open conversations about suicide. Through ongoing storytelling and fundraising, they help amplify lifesaving information and connect people to support. This May, together with our dedicated Lifesaver Ambassadors, we’re amplifying hope, reducing stigma, and strengthening the protective power of community.

Your donation to The Power of Community: Fundraising for Suicide Prevention Challenge directly supports AFSP’s work, including suicide prevention research, educational programs, advocacy, and loss support. Every contribution — big or small — helps build stronger, safer, and more connected communities, and reminds us that
we are stronger together.

"Supporting AFSP means supporting people through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and that’s something deeply personal to me. Music has always been about connection, healing, and reminding people they’re not alone. Being able to perform at AFSP events and help raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention is incredibly meaningful. If a song, a conversation, or a night of community can help even one person feel seen or supported, then it matters. Their mission and mine are aligned, dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.”

- Stephanie Quayle, AFSP Lifesaver Ambassador
